It may seem strange that this is my first proper review of ‘This Is It’ but it only seems that now is the right time. I saw TII in the cinema on the day of release and this is the only time. I haven’t seen it since, I didn’t download it, I wanted to wait for the release of the DVD because I wanted to preserve the magic. So tonight I sat down and watched what I consider the best movie of all time once more (thank you to HMV for delivering it 3 days early) and emotions ran high.
I can’t believe how (as one of the UK tag lines says) ‘utterly engaging’ this film is. If you take it back to basics this is Michael Jackson rehearsing is an empty stadium. For any other artist this really would be a performance in an empty space, but this was MJ, he filled every single inch. When I first saw TII in the cinema I was so emotional I really didn’t take it in but now being able to see it at home with the people I love really makes me and everyone around me realise that this would have been the greatest live show on earth. A friend who I went to see it with said to me that they couldn’t believe the amount of work that went into a concert of this magnitude, and maybe other artists don’t work as hard to bring to their fans what they need, and boy, as fans we needed Michael, and he was really gonna deliver.
This It It is all we have of Michael, his legacy, his dream. Legends never die and Michael Jackson is forever. Share you DVD, Blu Ray, USB sticks, every format you can get your hand on with everyone you love, because L.O.V.E. is all that it’s about.
Michael Jackson Forever!!!
